The Pit of Iron is a public dungeon and cave dwelling in the north-eastern region of the Gap of Rohan, in the Heathfells. This is the area that Dunlending and Rohirrim are taken to, being forced into slavery to make weapons and armor for the armies of Saruman. The area is similar to Moria in the respect that mobs are relatively close together and the zone takes some time to memorize how to navigate without getting lost. It is possible to ride a goat within this location.

Getting started with the Pit of Iron quest chain is somewhat confusing (It begins outside!) There's info on the page linked above.
The Dwarf Ondor's quests in the list below are usually the ones "missing" needed to complete the Deed: Quests in the Heathfells.

Just like in Moria, you can ride a goat while inside the Pit of Iron.

Completing the quest The Battle of Dol Baran will unlock the quest: The Pit of Iron
This quest, The Pit of Iron, auto completes as you approach the cave mouth with:

You spot something lying next to the cave entrance...

Touch the "Dwarf-make Pick-axe" which after you have grabbed The Pit of Iron now lies outside the cave.
The "Dwarf-make Pick-axe" starts the next quest, A Familiar Face.
Starting A Familiar Face will make the Dwarf Ondor appear INSIDE the Pit of Iron.

For the "Dwarf-make Pick-axe" to appear, you must have completed the quests: Imminent Collapse and The Battle of Dol Baran.
